Empty Stocking Fund Collection Drive

Empty Stocking Fund Collection Begins October 6Empty Stocking Fund Collection

Join us in helping to make the holidays a little brighter for Harford County’s families in need—donate to the Empty Stocking Fund! Bring new unwrapped toys, food goods, or monetary donations to any of our five branches. The collection drive kicks off October, 6th and continues through the end of the year.

Collection bins for new unwrapped toys and food items will be available at all five Freedom branches. Collected items go to Empty Stocking headquarters as the bins fill. Before the holidays, volunteers then pull together a “stocking” full of of donated items specially chosen for each child on the Fund’s list. Bring in a gift for a baby, a teenage boy, or a toddler girl. Stockings are given out to kids of all ages and with all interests!

Get in the holiday spirit and make a donation to The Empty Stocking Fund this season!

Hope In Handbags Event A Success — Thanks!

8th Annual Event Harford Family House’s Best Ever!

The Harford Family House announced that last weekend’s “Hope in Handbags” purse auction event was very successful.

Thanks to everyone at Freedom who helped — members, employees and volunteers! Special thanks to Freedom employees Alicia Bowman, Patrice Ricciardi, Rachel Schmidt, Andrea Woodard, and especially Tony Sjolie for contributing to the success of this special event.

This year’s 8th annual event raised over $28,000, after expenses just short of $26,000. This money will provide 1,040 nights of shelter for local families.

Patriot Program Rewards Civic Knowledge and Patriotism

Civics Program Support Now Reaching 24 Local Schools

We understand the importance of informed, active citizens. To this end, the Patriot Programs offered by many of Harford County’s public schools help students learn about their country. Each school’s program is voluntary, teaching national and state geographic facts, patriotism, and our history. The Patriot Program grows students’ sense of citizenship and pride in our shared American heritage.

For years we have underwritten the materials used to reward Patriot Program graduates. We have added several schools over the last few years, and our support now extends to 24 Harford County schools! Schools supported include the following:
