April 17, 2020: Branch and Stimulus Check Updates

Branch, Call Center, and Online Access

Freedom Federal Credit Union continues to monitor and follow guidelines put in place by state and local government.  To comply with these guidelines, our plan to open lobbies on April 30 at our five branches will be postponed until further notice. An exact date of lobby openings will be communicated as soon as recommendations are provided by state and local authorities that it is safe to do so.  Until then, our drive-thrus at our Park Avenue, Fountain Green, and Forest Lakes branches remain open to serve you.

Please visit our branch locations page to see current drive-thru hours and for any future updates.

Our Call Center Operations have been expanded. Give us a call at 800-440-4120 to speak with a Freedom Financial Service Representative. Additionally, Freedom members should continue to use our digital and online resources for 24/7 self-service and account access through Online Banking or the Mobile Banking app.

Economic Impact Payments

Federal Government COVID-19 stimulus deposits started posting on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 and will continue through the rest of the year.  The best way to know when your check has deposited is to set up deposit alert notifications in our mobile app or online banking to get an email, push notification, or text message.  If you’re receiving a paper stimulus check, they’ll start arriving by mail in May, to the address listed on your last tax return.

The IRS has created a payment tracker, where you can check the status of your stimulus payment, called Get My Payment. This website was launched on Tuesday, April 14, and is located at www.irs.gov/coronavirus. Please note, the IRS, not Freedom, dictates when the payment will be dispersed and deposited.

Please visit our Coronavirus Update page for additional information and FAQs regarding the Economic Income Payments.

Payment Protection Program (PPP) Update

Funding for the SBA’s Payment Protection Program has been exhausted as of April 16.  We are awaiting official instructions and details from the SBA.  As soon as we get notice that applications can be accepted again, we will update you on how to proceed with your PPP loan requests. We appreciate your patience.  Please visit our Business Relief Programs page for additional information.

Here For You

Please remember we have emergency assistance and payment relief programs for members who have been directly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, including low interest loan options, deferred payments, skip-a-pay options, fee waivers, loan extensions, and loan modifications. Please contact us with your specific situation or need.

We continue to want to do anything we can for you, and be here for you, through this difficult time.

April 16, 2020: Economic Impact Payments (EIPs) / Stimulus Payments

Federal Government COVID-19 stimulus deposits will start posting the morning of Wednesday, April 15, 2020 through the rest of the year.  The best way to know when your check has deposited is to set up deposit alert notifications in our mobile app or online banking to get an email, push notification, or text message.  If you’re receiving a paper stimulus check, they’ll start arriving by mail to the address listed on your last tax return in May.

The IRS has provided a website, where you can check the status of your stimulus payment:

IRS Payment Tracker

FAQ: EIP/Stimulus Payments

The payments, also referred to by some as stimulus payments, are automatic for most taxpayers. No further action is needed by taxpayers who filed tax returns in 2018 and 2019 and most seniors and retirees.

See if you are eligible for an Economic Impact Payment.

If you don’t file taxes, use the “Non-Filers: Enter Your Payment Info Here” application to provide simple information so you can get your payment.

Any individual that filed taxes and received a refund in 2019 or 2018 via ACH will get their funds via ACH.

It appears that if taxes were paid via ACH the EIP will be received via ACH.

Members that receive government benefits via ACH should receive their funds via ACH.

Members that receive Social Security or any other government benefits on a debit card will receive their funds on the card.

Other qualifying members will receive their funds by check to the address listed on their 2019 or 2018 tax filings.

If you are unsure of how your payment will be received, you can check that on the IRS’s EIP webpage.

The IRS is creating a portal for members that do not have updated or current account information with the IRS, but this portal has not been created.  Members can go the IRS.GOV’s Economic Impact Payment webpage and input information for non-taxpayers and to update outdated financial institution information until the portal is created.

The ACH will say IRS Treas 310 Tax Relief-there is no distinction between actual tax refunds and the EIPs.

Eligible individuals with adjusted gross income up to $75,000 for single filers, $112,500 for head of household filers and $150,000 for married filing jointly are eligible for the full $1,200 for individuals and $2,400 married filing jointly. In addition, they are eligible for an additional $500 per qualifying child.

For filers with income above those amounts, the payment amount is reduced by $5 for each $100 above the $75,000/$112,500/$150,000 thresholds. Single filers with income exceeding $99,000, $136,500 for head of household filers and $198,000 for joint filers with no children are not eligible and will not receive payments.

Please be aware of fraud.  The stimulus checks look just like IRS or Social Security checks.  The dollar amounts will be rounded numbers (not $2471.37).  The government will not email or call anyone about their stimulus funds so please never give personal information over the phone or computer in reference to your funds.
