Marquis Software Solutions is a marketing and business insights services provider that provides support to numerous financial institutions across the US, including Freedom Federal Credit Union.

Marquis experienced a cybersecurity incident in which an unauthorized party gained access to portions of their data environment impacting hundreds of financial institutions,

Freedom’s internal systems, servers, and data were not compromised in any way, and our internal systems continue to be safe and secure.

Marquis has notified any impacted members directly. If you received a notification letter regarding this incident, it means your information may have been included. There is no evidence of misuse or attempted misuse of personal information related to this incident.

Out of an abundance of caution, Marquis has arranged complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services. If you received a notification letter, please follow the instructions included to enroll in these services. We also encourage you to review the additional guidance in your letter about steps you can take to help protect your information.

The following are some FAQs regarding the data incident:

Yes, this letter is legitimate. Marquis was a third-party service provider of Freedom who experienced a data incident that involved their internal servers. Multiple financial institutional clients of Marquis, across the U.S. are being notified out of an abundance of caution.

Marquis determined that some of their data files containing Freedom member information were accessed. They are notifying all impacted members out of an abundance of caution.

On August 14, 2025, Marquis Software Solutions discovered suspicious activity on its network. At that time, we were not informed that personal data had been accessed. In the days following, Marquis shared additional indications that a security incident had occurred. On November 19, 2025, they informed us that Freedom member information was involved and which types of information were affected.

Marquis is a customer relationship management and business insights platform that helps us onboard new members, share special notices, and anticipate your needs by helping us offer you relevant products and services. e.g., member anniversaries, birthdays messages and special offers.

 

No. There was no breach involving Freedom’s systems or Freedom member accounts in any way. This data incident occurred solely at Marquis. This incident impacted numerous financial institutions across the U.S. and is not exclusive to Freedom.

No Freedom account numbers, debit/credit cards, or online/mobile banking credentials were compromised in any way.

Each member’s situation is unique, but may have included basic contact information and, in some cases, Social Security numbers or dates of birth. The official written notice you received explains exactly what was impacted and the next steps.

Marquis is a well-established marketing and business insights service provider that hundreds of banks and credit unions across the US partner with to provide insights. For Freedom, this is solely to help us better serve you as a member.

All banks and credit unions work with specialized service providers to improve member experience, with things like:

  • Helping us understand what products or services members may find valuable.
  • Ensuring our communications are relevant and timely.
  • Supporting research that helps us improve our product and service offerings and help us continue to improve the overall membership experience.

Freedom does not sell personal information, and we take great care in how it’s used and protected. Access to sensitive information is strictly limited to authorized parties and only for legitimate business and compliance purposes.

This was an unfortunate event, and as a result we have discontinued our relationship with the vendor.

All financial companies need to share members’ personal information to run their everyday business. We only share the information that is absolutely necessary to acquire the necessary service.

  • All third-party partners are meticulously vetted and contractually required to protect your data and use it only for the very specific purposes that we authorize.
  • Your financial information, account numbers, and other sensitive data are not shared for marketing purposes outside of Freedom’s own use. Please refer to Freedom’s Privacy Policy for more information.

As with any situation regarding your personal information, we encourage you to remain vigilant by reviewing your account statements and credit reports frequently for any unauthorized activity.

You may elect to receive one year of credit monitoring, free of charge. Members who live in states with stricter requirements will receive the appropriate length of monitoring automatically.
