1. What is Mobile Check Deposit (MCD)?

    Mobile Check Deposit, or MCD, is a secure, online service that lets eligible Freedom members use their smartphone to deposit a check into their Freedom account. Members can also deposit a check using a scanner and their desktop computer.

  1. Does it cost anything to use MCD?

    There’s no fee to use MCD unless you have a Business Account with Freedom. There’s a fee for Business accounts, beginning at $5 and based on volume. Please contact Business Banking at 410-420-3102 for more details.

  1. Is there a limit on the dollar amount or number of checks that I may deposit with MCD?

    Limits depend on your relationship with Freedom. Please talk to a representative about any special needs you may have.

  1. What types of checks CAN’T I deposit using MCD?

    • Checks from a lottery or prize winning
    • Altered items
    • Incomplete checks (Missing date, missing payee, improper endorsement, etc.)
    • Foreign checks
    • Post-dated checks
    • Previously deposited checks
    • Travelers checks
    • Money orders
    • 3rd party checks

  1. How do I sign up for MCD?

    Log in to Online Banking and click on “Remote Deposit”. Under the drop-down menu choose which account you want to enroll.

    Once you choose your account, you’ll get a message thanking you for registering.

    To enroll in the mobile app, click the “Deposit” icon on the dashboard page.

    You’ll see a welcome note and can then click on the “Get Started” Button.

    Select which account you wish to deposit checks into

    Next, select which account you want to deposit the funds into.

    Enter your full 13 Digit Account number and click “Done” in the top-right corner. You’ll then get a message letting you know your enrollment is submitted and is waiting to be approved.

    Please note MCD applications are approved manually. Once it’s approved you will get an email letting you know that MCD is approved and you may start depositing your checks. The email will also detail the total daily deposit limit for checks

  1. What’s the best way to endorse and photograph my checks?

    Sign your checks with your name as it appears on the front of the check, and include the following information:

    • Write “For Mobile Deposit Only at Freedom FCU”
    • Add your Account Number
    • ALWAYS use Dark Black Ink.  Use the entire endorsement box area for your signature and the other information needed, as mentioned above.
    • Make sure flash is off on your smartphone and take the picture on a white background if possible.

  1. How do I log into Mobile Check Deposit?

    As you log in to Online Banking you’re logging in to MCD as well. When you reach the main page in Online Banking you’ll need to click on “Remote Deposit”.

  1. What about logging out after I submit a check?

    In Online Banking, click the logout icon at the top right of the screen.

    If you’re using the mobile app you’ll need to click on the three little lines in the top left corner of the page, then click “Settings” and “Sign Out”.

  1. Will I get a notice that my check is accepted?

    Once the check is reviewed you’ll receive an email stating that is was accepted and the check holds that apply.(Checks holds may vary based on your relationship with Credit Union and the individual deposit.) If a check is rejected you’ll get an email stating that the deposit was rejected and the reason why.

  1. How long does it take for a check to be accepted?

    All Mobile Check Deposit checks are reviewed within one (1) Business Day of when we receive the request. Once the check is reviewed you’ll receive an email notifying you that it was accepted, along with any check holds that apply. If the check was rejected you will also be notified by email within the same time frame.

  1. What are the benefits of using Mobile Check Deposit?

    Mobile Check Deposit makes it unnecessary for you to visit a branch or ATM to deposit checks. So you save time and money!

  1. When are Mobile Check Deposit checks processed?

    Checks received before 3:00 PM EST will be posted the same business day. Checks received after 3:00 PM EST will be posted the next business day
